Routine test of high voltage fiberglass electroscope:
* To ensure personnel and equipment safety, electrical apparatus should be subject to preventive test on a semi-annual basis according to the Safety Code of Electric Power Industry.
* Visual inspection should be performed prior to preventive test. If the electroscope case is damaged or the insulating rod is cracked or has other visible defects, preventive test should not be carried out, but the device be timely submitted for replacement.
Battery replacement:
* The electroscope is provided with 4 SR44 (A76) button batteries, which should be timely replaced if the indication strength is low (or abnormal) when the self-test button is pressed.
*Open the battery cover, and ascertain the anode and cathode prior to replacement.
* Caution: If any battery is bad or not used for a long time, its leakage will damage the indicator!
